Applying the Finish
This usually ends up being a several step process and again depends on the type of banjo. Some open back and mountain banjos are oil finished with multiple applications. Others are given several coats of sealer, especially if they are getting any hand painting done on them. Once the painting is done and dry, the fingerboard is taped off and multiple layers of lacquer are sprayed onto the neck, rim, and resonator. Patience…all the parts must be fully dry before assembly!
